Dentures

Dentures are the go-to solution for patients with multiple missing teeth to restore their oral functionality and aesthetics. They are composed of dental-grade ceramic and acrylic to mimic the teeth and gums, respectively. We will thoroughly diagnose your oral condition and develop the best treatment solution to replace your missing teeth.

What are the types of dentures?

Dentures can briefly be classified into two types, namely complete and partial dentures.

Complete dentures: They are used to restore every single tooth in the mouth. The dentist will complete the tooth extractions to remove any remaining teeth and fabricate the dentures. Further, complete dentures can be classified as immediate and conventional dentures. Immediate dentures will be prefabricated and given to the patient right after the tooth extractions are completed. The wounds would heal right under dentures. Conventional dentures are provided after the extractions are completed, and the wounds heal, which will take a couple of months.

Partial dentures: When patients need to get only a few particular teeth restored, they can opt for partial dentures. They are made from a combination of ceramic, acrylic, and held in position using a metal framework. Just like complete dentures, they can be removed as and when required.

How are dentures fabricated?

The dentist will visually examine your mouth and determine which restoration will be suitable for you. If you wish to get your remaining teeth extracted, we will have them removed and suggest an appropriate healing period. We use a hand-held scanning tool to scan your mouth and create a digital impression, which will be used to fabricate the dentures in a dental laboratory.

Once fabricated and ready to use, the dentist will schedule a consultation for you. The dentures will be placed in your mouth and checked for fit and comfort. If any modifications are required, the dentist will make them give you perfect fitting prosthetic teeth. We will also advise you on how to care for them so that they may last for many years without any hassle.

What are the advantages of dentures?

  • They restore oral functionality. You will be able to bite and chew food as you used to before losing your natural teeth.
  • Once the dentures are placed in the mouth, they make the cheeks and chin appear fuller. Patients also tend to look younger.
  • They are removable prosthetics. You can take them off whenever you have to sleep, clean your mouth, clean the dentures, etc.
  • Dentures mimic the appearance of the teeth and gums, making them a worthy replacement for natural teeth.
